Our Partnership

Fundy Partnership

The Fundy Partnership is a collaborative regional initiative that brings together municipalities, community organizations, businesses, and UNESCO-designated sites to implement the Regional Destination Development and Stewardship Strategy for the Upper Fundy Coast and Fundy Foothills Region. Coordinated and administered by Friends of Fundy, the Partnership serves as the “container” that holds diverse efforts in tourism development, conservation, culture, and economic resilience.

At its core, the Fundy Partnership is about building the conditions for regenerative tourism—an approach that ensures tourism strengthens rather than strains local communities and ecosystems. By aligning resources, strategies, and leadership, the Partnership works across boundaries to position the Fundy region as a model for sustainable, place-based economic development.

Friends of Fundy

Friends of Fundy / Fundy Guild Inc. is a registered nonprofit charitable organization dedicated to enhancing the social, cultural, and economic wellbeing of communities along New Brunswick’s Fundy Coast and Fundy Foothills Region. Founded to support Fundy National Park and its surrounding villages, Friends of Fundy has grown into a regional leader in place-based economic development and destination development, working at the intersection of art, culture, environment, and community prosperity.

The ‘Friends’ operate a network of Outpost Gift Shops and the Molly Kool Heritage Centre, which function both as cultural gathering places and as social enterprises that reinvest revenues into community programming. These shops prioritize local artisans, Indigenous cultural sharing, and sustainable products, providing year-round opportunities for small producers and makers.

Partner with Us

The Partnership’s strength lies in its ability to unite diverse players under a common vision: a thriving visitor economy that enriches local culture, stewards natural assets, and delivers tangible benefits for residents. With Shorefast’s ShoreNet as a guiding framework, the Fundy Partnership is advancing models that can be shared with other small & rural communities in New Brunswick and across Atlantic Canada.

By coordinating implementation of the Strategy, the Fundy Partnership ensures that no single organization bears the responsibility alone. Instead, it nurtures shared ownership, aligning tourism growth with community wellbeing and ecological integrity. In doing so, it is redefining what success looks like for rural regions—measured not just in visitor numbers, but in stronger communities, resilient economies, and a healthier environment.

LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

The Fundy Partnership acknowledges that the Fundy Coast and Fundy Foothills region is within Mi’gma’ki, the ancestral and unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq, Wolastoqiyik, and Peskotomuhkati people. This land is governed by the Peace and Friendship Treaties, which continue to guide relationships based on respect, cooperation, and shared responsibility.

We are grateful for the opportunity to live, learn, and work in this place. We recognize that our presence here carries responsibilities, and we commit to ongoing learning about Mi’gma’ki—its histories, cultures, and living relationships to the land and waters. We strive to carry this learning forward in our work, in ways that honour the Mi’kmaq and support respectful relationships now and into the future.
